Calling in the desert

The violin-teacher who was impressed by 'Branoul' asked me if I could write a string-quartet, which could be played by his pupils. It was the first time I did this, although I had written ‘String thing' in 1991. I wrote it in March 1993 and because I was a bit lazy I based it on themes from 'Sometimes, I feel...', a piece I wrote in 1990 and which I still liked very much. The teacher liked the piece, but sadly none of the two string-quartets he taught had the time to practise the piece. Because the synthesizers I had are not good for imitating a string quartet, I decided to arrange the piece which I did in May, June and July 1993, and record it with the sounds of different wind-instruments.
